While visiting the Hot Springs
in Big Bend Park last year, I once again paused on the trail to admire the
ancient symbols painted on the layered rocks along the Rio Grande. Many times I
had wondered what they meant.... the wiggly lines; the stick figures; the
frequent Xs and bunched-up marks. I hadn’t paid much attention to what other
people thought they meant, nor did I want to read about the pictographs in a
book. All these years, I wanted to decipher the meaning of these lines on my
own. Well, I think I finally made some sense of it all. Lets see if any of you
agree with my analysis: |
